You are able to read this blog. Maybe you read your Bible this morning, or a newspaper, or magazine. Maybe you read them all online via apps. You read texts sent to you from loved ones. You read emails at work. You might have ‘liked’ a Facebook post you recently read. In your daily life, reading plays a big role in how you communicate, process information, and relate to the world around you.
Reverend Mkunga Mtingele, General Secretary of the Bible Society of Tanzania, retired at the end of December after more than twelve years of faithful service. His ministry has been in strong partnership with ours over the last couple decades, and he recently visited Faith Comes By Hearing to share his stories, thoughts, and prayers with us.
Sheep: Those fluffy farm animals seen on green hillsides, contentedly chewing grass.
Sheep are valuable in that they provide wool, meat, and milk. They also naturally herd, meaning that keeping a flock of sheep together is pretty manageable. However, when sheep feel threatened, they have one defense: huddle together and run away. The only way a shepherd can get a sheep to go where he wants is for him to gently lead it along, walking ahead of it. Eventually, the whole flock will come to know and recognize the shepherd’s voice and words.
