Faith Comes By Hearing Family
Thank you for faithfully praying for the health, safety, and protection of our ministry’s leadership, employees and their families, and hundreds of partners in the field worldwide.
Praise God! We are thankful to see God provide just the right people at the right time: Customer/Donor Services Representative was filled by someone with previous non-profit Customer Service experience; Digital Marketing Specialist and Digital Marketing Coordinator were both filled by people who have previous experience; Mid-Level Donor Representative was filled by someone who was already familiar with the Ministry; Text Processor was filled by someone who has interest and experience in languages and linguistics; Data Entry Clerk was filled by someone who has lots of enthusiasm and a love for God. Please pray that the Lord provides the right people to join us in the positions of: Front-End Web Applications Developer; Back-End Web Applications Developer; Software Developer; Senior Software Developer. Also pray for the new staff members as they learn their responsibilities and gain knowledge of the ministry.
Funding Opportunities (both nationally and internationally)
Thank you for continuing to pray as we reach out to donors and potential donors for help in getting God’s Word to everyone everywhere.
Global Bible Network
We have fielded more than 10 Android apps that were built with an enhanced version of SIL’s Scripture App Builder, with a second round of enhancements under way. We have also fielded Wi-Fi hubs to distribute these apps, and are anticipating availability of a battery-powered pocket Wi-Fi hub by the end of this year. Please pray for blessed relationships with key Global Bible Network partners SIL International and Renew World Outreach and for continued like-mindedness with partners and solutions to the technical challenges.
Military BibleStick Program
Thank you for continuing to pray for the warriors who are protecting our nation’s freedom, especially the Dads who are on duty and away from their families; and thank you for providing the gift of God’s Word on the Military BibleStick to them.
As we work together with partners across Africa, we are humbled and awed by the testimonies we receive telling of the impact of the Audio Scriptures. One man who practices the traditional religion reports that he used to organize his friends to disrupt church services. But after listening to the Word of God on the Proclaimer and hearing Christians sing worship songs, he gave his life to Christ and is now a Sunday school teacher and leads the church during worship and prayer. We praise God for this and thank you for your prayers!
Madagascar: Please pray for the more than 260,000 people in nine regions of this country who have potentially been impacted by Cyclone Enawo, the strongest to hit the country in 13 years. Strong winds, floods, and landslides have left 22,000 people homeless or with property damage. The Bible Society is thankful for your prayers for these people who are trying to recover from this hardship.
Rwanda: As Rwandans commemorate the 23rd anniversary of the genocide against the Tutsi, please pray for the Lord’s balm of healing and peace to cover them. Their courage and resilience is marked by the burning of the Flame of Remembrance and is the official start to the 100 days of mourning.
Argentina: Please pray for the Toba Sur New Testament recording that will begin in May.
Bolivia: Please pray for listening groups that are beginning in several languages.

Paraguay: Praise God! Listening groups are now being implemented among the Enxet people!
Peru: Please pray as Proclaimers loaded with the Quechua Ambo Pasco New Testament are sent to partners in the country. Also pray that the new government restrictions affecting shipments of Proclaimers will be lessened.
ASIA (EAST, SOUTHEAST, SOUTH, PACIFIC)
Thank you for praying for the Asia Area Director who traveled to India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, and SK during February and March. The meetings he had with translation organizations and field partners were very fruitful with many hopes and dreams for this year . . . and beyond.
Please pray for new partnerships being developed and Bible listening programs being implemented in Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam. Pray for wisdom and encouragement for the partners, those with whom they work, and those to whom they are ministering.
India: Please pray for the upcoming training for Render projects, which will involve several of our partners who do not typically do translation work but have participated in Scripture engagement programs. There is a lot of excitement about languages that will be translated/recorded using Render.
Please pray! The government of India is making every effort to bring Hinduism back, affecting everything from the economy and the poor who struggle daily to strong opposition to Christendom, which was not that severe in the past.
Indonesia: Thank you for praying! The teams in this country are able to record up to 15 New Testaments annually, creating great impact on the lives of the people who speak these languages - mostly unbelievers and unreached. Pray specifically for the best ways to get the Nalca Audio New Testament to the people in the remote part of the country.
Please continue to pray for open doors to find partners who share the vision to reach everyone everywhere with God’s Word in audio; for community support that will result in efficient recording projects; and for God to touch the lives of those involved.
Thank you for praying about Faith Comes By Hearing’s 2017 recording schedule. Four of the 13 New Testament recordings planned for this year began during the first quarter and are progressing smoothly, although fluent readers are not always easy to find. Please continue to pray that our recording partners will have successful research trips prior to each recording; for them to find the best contacts and the best voice talents; and for continued community support that will result in efficient recording projects; for God to touch the lives of those involved.
Thank you for praying for the Program Manager who has been going through thyroid cancer treatments. He is now cancer free and once again traveling and implementing FCBH listening programs. The Language Recording Coordinator and Asia Director visited him recently and found that he is recovering nicely. Please continue to pray for full healing, energy, and recovery as he does his work throughout the country.
Papua New Guinea: Thank you for praying for the Central Buang recording. As this is being written, the recording participants are listening through the entire recording to ensure it is accurate and complete. Please pray that the files arrive safely in our Albuquerque studio, that the final mastering and effects will go smoothly, and that the release of this Audio Bible will result in lives changed for His glory.
Praise God! Faith Comes By Hearing participated in a successful joint recording pilot project with SIL-PNG and their Scripture Use Media (SU Media) department! SU Media recorded the Gwahatike New Testament, and the field recording is now in the Faith Comes By Hearing studio to receive music and sound effects. The two partners will attempt to do a couple more New Testament projects this year. Please pray that these recordings proceed smoothly, including the Menya, which is underway now; and that Faith Comes By Hearing and SU Media will continue to partner together in future projects.
Philippines: Please pray for emerging opportunities to equip ministries reaching out to the minority religion communities. There is excitement about Audio Scriptures! Please pray that we find appropriate contacts, participants, and locations to record the Scriptures for these communities.
Solomon Islands: Thank you for praying! Faith Comes By Hearing trained a new recording team in the final quarter of 2016. They are currently finalizing their first project, the Fataleka New Testament. This recording took longer than expected because of sickness and unexpected deaths of members of the recording team’s extended family. Their next project will be the Baeggu New Testament. Please pray that the team is able to recover from the challenges faced during their first project and is able to move on to complete many others, resulting in the Audio Scriptures having great impact in this country.
The Language Recording Coordinator for this region will be in Solomon Islands in June to train partners on how to implement Faith Comes By Hearing listening groups. Please pray he is able to clearly communicate the vision for listening groups and that the training will result in meaningful interaction with the Audio Scriptures.
Thailand: Please pray for pastors who recently attended Faith Comes By Hearing Bible listening training. They will take what they learned back to their communities and neighboring Myanmar. Some of these areas are sensitive and they need prayer for safety and for the people to be open to the Gospel.
Vanuatu: A Virtual Recording project of the Old Testament in Bislama is currently underway. Please pray that the readers will be diligent to complete this project in a smooth, efficient, and timely manner, and that the recording will bear much fruit in this Melanesian society.
EURASIA AND MIDDLE EAST
Eurasia: As refugees continue to migrate into Europe (albeit at a greatly reduced rate) the ministries working with them now have the time to disciple them. Please continue to pray that we would be able to connect with these partners who are discipling them; for divine appointments to minister eternal hope to those whose physical and economic hopes have been dashed; and for Christians working along the fenced borders distributing BibleSticks to Afghan, Syrian, and Iraqi refugees.
Russia: Praise God for the completion of two New Testament recordings that were done in the heart of the southern region of this nation where the majority population is of another faith. Please pray that God will provide on-the-ground partners that can engage people with the Audio Bible.
Please pray that we will be able to get BibleSticks and Mini Proclaimers into the Balkar Region of the Caucasus Mountains of Russia.
Please pray for many new partnerships in Central Asia as we are seeing new opportunities and new Bible recordings now (or soon to be) available in this region.
Because of the extreme difficulty in working in the following regions, language and country names have been changed or omitted to protect our partners and their workers.
Praise God for answers to prayer and thank you for praying! New on-the-ground partners are emerging all across the Middle East and North Africa. Please continue to pray that God would bring to our attention those workers He wants us to partner with to bring His Word to the largest spiritual and physical desert in the world.
Continue to pray for a project being developed that will ultimately help people receive God’s Word on their smartphones without the need for an Internet connection. Praise God for the collaboration and progress we have experienced so far!
Pakistan: Praise God for the many listening groups now forming all over the country! Continue to pray for the safety of the workers and for the participants; for protection from the violence inflicted upon Christians by members of the majority faith. Please pray that as we consider new ministry partners within this country that the Spirit will help us separate the sheep from the goats.
Please pray that God would continue to grant us favor with partners who license the Bible texts so we can be empowered to do more recordings for the forgotten people groups in the MENA region.
Christian Leaders: Please pray that leaders in the Body of Christ - local, national, and international - will come to understand the incredible power of mother-tongue Scripture recordings for evangelism and discipleship, and ultimately endorse the widespread use of these recordings in their respective ministries and beyond.
FCBH Program Developers: Please continue to pray for these hard-working, faithful people as they travel in their respective regions to do listening group training and follow-up; as they encourage partners and listening group leaders to promote Scripture engagement; for their health and safety; for strength as they are in the midst of a spiritual battlefield; and for their families.
Recordings & Teams (Field and Virtual): Thank you for continuing to pray for the diligent work of our translation partners, recording teams (43), and studio workers so Scriptures can be available for those who need to know that God speaks their language.
• Audio Bibles being recorded: 29 on-location, 17 online
• Audio Bibles being processed in-studio: 18 field recordings, 3 virtual recording, 8 other
• wisdom in choosing recording projects; in finding the right participants; and in selecting the most efficient and effective methods
• health, stamina, and protection for the teams, readers, proofreaders, and all of their families
• Audio Bibles to have an impact on the lives of the people who listen in their own languages
Render: In partnership with Seed Company and Pioneer Bible Translators over the last three years, this fully oral Bible translation software is now being used to translate the Bible, essentially allowing the translation and recording to happen at the same time. Please pray for these projects and more to be started this year:
• Chibi in Brazil: unity, endurance, and perseverance as they continue translating the Bible for this people group
• Ma’di South in Uganda: that the Audio Scriptures being created will change the hearts of those living in this community
• Unnamed Language in Tanzania: that the translators would remember the details as they progress; for unity among the believers in the area
• Unnamed Language in the Middle East North Africa: for God to keep the team safe as they risk their lives to get God’s Word to their people; that God’s Word would change the hearts of hearers
Shipments: Thank you for continuing to pray for shipments of Proclaimers that are en route - for them to be kept safe during transit, to clear customs, and to be received by our partners in a timely manner.
Partnerships: Thank you for your prayers! Amazing partnerships have been formed and we are excited for what God holds in continuing to provide His Word to everyone everywhere.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYER SUPPORT!
