Faith Comes By Hearing Family
Thank you for faithfully praying for the health, safety, and protection of our ministry’s leadership, employees and their families, and hundreds of partners in the field worldwide.
As the work of the Lord increases, He continues to provide the right people. We recently filled 11 positions: Director of Chaplaincy Ministries; Audio Processing Editor, Creative Specialist for Render; Microsoft Access VBS Developer; Building Maintenance Technician; Executive Services Coordinator; Program Integration Manager; Digital Technology Support; and three Production workers. Please pray that the new staff members learn their responsibilities and gain knowledge of the ministry quickly; also for guidance in selecting the right people for five additional positions that we are looking to fill in the near future.
Funding Opportunities (both nationally and internationally)
Thank you for continuing to prayer as we reach out to donors and potential donors for help in getting God’s Word to everyone everywhere.
Digital Bible Platform (DBP)
Thank you for your prayers as we reach far and wide with our digital initiatives to bring God’s Word to every human on Earth. Please continue to pray for godly insight, clarity, and invigoration for our digital teams as they develop many emerging technologies; for their protection from the enemy as they close the gap for the unconnected and semi-connected peoples of the world.
We are thankful for the new technologies being developed, giving us more ways to get God’s Word to everyone everywhere. We are also thankful for the continued success and proper functionality of our established platforms - the DBP, Bible.is family of apps, Internet radio, satellite TV - and the emerging Global Bible Network that is currently in the testing phase of development.
Military BibleStick Program
National Military Appreciation Month is a time to recognize and honor all the men and women of our U.S. Armed Forces who have served throughout history, and are serving today. It is also a time to remember those who have given their lives for our freedom. Thank you for your prayers as we continue to provide the peace, comfort, and hope of God’s Word to the Troops through the Military BibleStick - a much-needed resource to bring hope to our heroes!
El Niño is causing famine in many African countries this year. Food crises, shortages of water, and outbreaks of disease are rampant. Millions in East Africa are already in need of food assistance, with at least 11 million children facing starvation; drought in some countries is the worst since 1982. These statistics are staggering, but we know each person is loved by God. Please pray that both bread for their stomachs would be provided and the Bread of Life would be given to them for their salvation.
Burundi: Tensions have dramatically increased due to recent assassinations and attempted assassinations. It has been reported that over 250,000 people have fled because of the violence. Please continue to pray for an end to the violence and terror; for the refugees who are living in dangerous and difficult conditions; and for protection for our partners and their families.
Central African Republic: Since March 2013, the people have been suffering from a reign of terror that has resulted in thousands being killed and more than 1 million losing their homes. Please pray for the return of peace, healing, and stability; and for the provision of desperately needed food, shelter, and medical care.
Niger: Praise God! Our partner says: We thank the Lord for all His blessings through the Faith Comes By Hearing program and express our thanks and appreciation. You are a blessing to the Bible work in Niger! Please pray for the church leaders to have greater zeal and that Scripture engagement would be their topmost priority; also for wisdom for the recently-elected political leaders to bring peace.
Sierra Leone: Praise God! A ministry partner rejoices: Faith Comes By Hearing continues to make wonderful impact in the lives of Sierra Leoneans! Listening to Scripture is really changing the lives of the young people in the communities. One listening group maintains inter-religious tolerance with both Christians and non-Christians listening to the Word of God under one roof. Thank you for your prayers! It is wonderful to hear about those who are being touched by hearing His Word in their heart languages.
West Africa: Praise God! The public emergency caused by the Ebola outbreak has come to an end. Plans are being implemented to provide services to safeguard the health of more than 10,000 survivors, as well as ongoing monitoring of any new outbreaks. Thank you for your prayers!
Belize: Please pray for the listening groups that were implemented last year; for encouragement and support for the partner who is seeking to expand the use of the Proclaimer for Creole speakers.
Bolivia: Please pray for our recording partner who will be recording the Simba Guaraní New Testament and portions of the Old Testament; for the health and safety of the team members, the readers, proofreaders, and all participants.
Brazil: Please pray for the two people groups that will soon be hearing God’s Word for the first time on Proclaimers as listening groups get started in their communities and surrounding areas; for recordings to be done using translations of Scripture already completed.
Chile: Please pray for our Regional Coordinator, that the Lord would bring healing to his body and wisdom in how to handle the various challenges that he is dealing with.
Colombia: Please pray as listening groups in several languages begin in May and June; for our Regional Coordinator as he travels to provide training for field partners and listening group leaders.
Cuba: Please pray for our Regional Coordinator as he travels to provide listening group leader training and for the 800 new listening groups that will be implemented; for the existing listening groups to grow.
Ecuador: Please pray for the recording team as they record the Quichua Cañar and Quichua Salasaca New Testaments; for the health of the team members and the readers.
Guatemala: Please pray for the recording teams as they complete the recording, mixing, and editing of the Old Testament Pentateuch in Achi and Pokomchí.
Guyana: The in-country ministry partner is preparing to implement listening groups. Please pray that Proclaimers would arrive in time and that the preparations would go smoothly.
Mexico: Several New Testament recordings are in process. Please pray for God’s hand to be on them; and for the health and safety of the participants.
Panama: Please continue to pray for the very first listening groups that were implemented among the Border Kuna people; also for new listening groups among the Wounaan and Northern Emberá peoples.
Paraguay: Proclaimers are being sent to schools in an effort to reach more children. Please pray that listening to God’s Word would have an impact on them, their families, and their teachers.
Peru: Please pray that the lives of people who speak 15 different languages would be touched and changed as they listen to God’s Word on Proclaimers.
San Andres Island: Praise God! The people have just received the Audio New Testament for the first time. Please pray for the newly-implemented listening groups to have an impact on the people and that they would respond to what they hear.
ASIA (EAST, SOUTHEAST, SOUTH, PACIFIC)
Thank you for your prayers for the Regional Manager during his travels these past few months. The meetings he attended have been successful in Kingdom building.
Bangladesh: Please continue to pray for the hundreds of people who are coming to faith in Christ through Bible listening. The Regional Manager did a two-day field trip and was blessed to see the people’s openness to God’s Word and the discipleship taking place through our partners.
India: Praise God! Listening programs continue to grow in the country, including the Andaman and Nicobar Islands - a region previously difficult to implement Faith Comes By Hearing listening groups. Now, the region has more than 200 listening groups, and hundreds more are being requested. Please continue to pray as God strengthens hearts and opens doors through faithful ministry partnerships!
Indonesia: Faith Comes By Hearing Indonesia has brought on a new recording team, making it the sixth team working there. Combined, the teams will now be able to record up to 15 New Testaments annually, creating great impact on the lives of the people who speak these languages who are mostly unbelievers and unreached. Please pray for safety for the teams as they travel; for them to find the best people to contact, the best voice talents, and for continued community support that will result in efficient recording projects; for God to touch the lives of those involved.
One recording team is working on a project in the rural areas of Papua, Indonesia, that has been bogged down by disputes over dialect. Please pray as many lines have to be re-recorded; also that the remaining lines would be recorded without any further problems or disputes in order to create a high-quality recording that will accurately reflect the translated Word and make the greatest possible impact.
Another team in Papua, Indonesia is working on a recording that is taking longer than usual. They are not able to work full days because of the rain; literacy is not widespread so the speakers need to be prompted. Please pray that despite these difficulties the recording team will find ways to progress steadily and that God’s Word in audio can bear fruit among this people group.
Several recordings are scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year; however, we are still waiting for the electronic texts. Please pray that these texts are received in time to be scripted and ready for the team.
Please continue to pray for the Program Manager - he had a slight setback after his surgery. He is having difficulty speaking, which has restricted his work with Faith Comes By Hearing. Please pray for full healing and recovery to allow him to continue his ministry, which is greatly needed.
Myanmar: New and exciting opportunities are on the horizon. Please continue to pray as they come to fruition.
Nepal: Please continue to pray as many villages and communities throughout the earthquake-affected areas are still without homes and water. There are still occasional aftershocks, causing many who have homes to be fearful of entering them.
Please pray for those involved in two new recordings planned for this year - the Sherpa and the newly-revised Newar New Testaments.
Papua New Guinea: The Omwunra Toqura New Testament, speakers of which are located in the Eastern Highlands, recording is 85% completed. It can sometimes be difficult to keep participants focused during the remaining 15%. Please pray that the team members, project assistant, and literacy workers remain faithful to the end of the project and that lives will be impacted as a result.
Thank you for praying as Faith Comes By Hearing seeks to strengthen partnerships with existing ministries that are working in Bible translation and Scripture recording. Your prayers are bearing fruit as strategic partners in the region indicate they want to work more closely with us in doing recordings and implementing listening programs.
Praise God! Thank you for praying for the Melpa New Testament field recording. It is now complete and in our studio for final mixing and mastering. Please pray that this process goes smoothly during the next couple of months.
Please continue to pray for our Recording Manager as he oversees several recording teams; safety when he travels to implement listening groups in the 12+ languages that have been recorded for the people in those areas; for his family while he is away from home; and for his labor to bear much fruit.
Philippines: Please pray for four new recordings planned for this year - Central Ifugao (field recording is completed), Palanan, Agta, Bantoanon, and Romblomanon - that the hearts and lives of those who listen will be changed. Please also pray for safety for the Bible Society workers as they travel; and openness to the Scriptures as they implement listening groups throughout the region.
Solomon Islands: Faith Comes By Hearing will be sending a recording team from the Philippines to the Solomon Islands in May to record the Roviana New Testament. Please pray that this recording moves along smoothly and that the Roviana-speaking people will benefit spiritually from the Audio Scriptures.
Sri Lanka: The Regional Manager just returned from visiting a region previously occupied by a terrorist group. After 30 years of civil war, the militants were finally defeated. Although thousands are still without homes and children are left as orphans, the Gospel is being spread and received in unexpected ways.
Please pray for the Regional Coordinator as he travels in this region to provide the Audio Scriptures to church workers who are working openly now and seeing hundreds of people come to faith.
EURASIA AND MIDDLE EAST
Praise God and thank you for praying! Your prayers are being answered and so many wonderful things are taking place in this region of the world!
Europe: Refugees continue to enter this region, but at a much smaller rate. This, however, doesn’t change their plight, just the location of their suffering. Many ministries continue to rethink their strategies, and still have a need for God’s Word in many languages they never anticipated using - specifically in audio. So, please continue to pray that we would be able to meet these needs; for Christians working along the fenced borders, distributing BibleSticks to Afghan, Syrian, and Iraqi refugees; for divine appointments to minister eternal hope to these people whose physical and economic hopes have been dashed.
Praise God for the steady flow of Mini Proclaimers in the Altai language going into southern Siberia and for the lives that are being transformed. As one woman said, Now we know God in a new way . . . the Altai way.
Praise God for the completion of the Balkar New Testament recording, now available on the Digital Bible Platform. Pray that we will be able to get BibleSticks and Mini Proclaimers into the area to support the work of God’s Church.
Because of the extreme difficulty in working in the following regions, language and country names have been changed or omitted to protect our partners and their workers.
Caucasus Region: Continue to pray for the recording of a language referred to as “Z.” The project coordinator we hoped to work with was approached by those who are hostile to Christianity and “convinced” him to not move ahead with the project. We are now trying to find a new project coordinator, as well as voice talent to do this recording. The enemy does not want this Audio Bible recorded.
Middle East: Please continue to pray for the Afghan, Syrian, and Iraqi refugees, who are receiving God’s Word on BibleSticks, to have an opportunity to meet with a believer and be discipled; that we would be able to build a community of workers who are capable of transporting large quantities of Mini Proclaimers, BibleSticks, and micro-SD cards into the region; for workers who continue to take BibleSticks and micro-SD cards into Iran to share the Good News with any who will listen.
Pray also for an upcoming pilot project for this region that does not require an Internet connection to get God’s Word onto a person’s smartphone.
Pakistan: Praise God for the many listening groups now forming all over the country! Continue to pray for the safety of the workers and for the participants; for protection from the violence inflicted upon Christians by members of the majority faith.
Christian Leaders: Please pray that leaders in the Body of Christ - local, national, and international - will come to understand the incredible power of mother-tongue Scripture recordings for evangelism and discipleship and ultimately endorse the widespread use of these recordings in their respective ministries and beyond.
FCBH Field Coordinators: Please continue to pray for these hard-working people as they are in the midst of a spiritual battlefield with the work they do; are often separated from their families for extended periods of time; and for strength, encouragement, and protection as they move the work of the Lord forward.
Recordings & Teams (Field and Virtual): Thank you for continuing to pray for the diligent work of our translation partners, recording teams, and studio workers so Scriptures can be available for those who need to know that God speaks their language.
- Audio Bibles being recorded: 28 on-location, 20 online
- Audio Bibles being processed in-studio: 30 field recordings, 5 virtual recordings
- wisdom in finding the right participants and in selecting the most efficient and effective methods
- health, stamina, and protection for the teams, readers, proofreaders, and all of their families
- Audio Bibles to have an impact on the lives of the people who listen in their own languages
Shipments: Thank you for continuing to pray for shipments of Proclaimers that are en route - for them to be kept safe during transit, to clear customs, and to be received by our partners in a timely manner.
Partnerships: Thank you for your prayers! We are encouraged and excited as new partnerships are being formed and God’s Word is made available to more people groups in the world.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYER SUPPORT
