Let’s face it: It’s not easy to be a believer. In fact, Jesus told us it wouldn’t be easy. Putting all our trust and hope in God can be tough, especially when it seems like everything is going wrong. Countless Bible verses illuminate faith and the importance of trusting and hoping in God.

At Faith Comes By Hearing, we receive testimonies from all over the world about the power of God’s audible Word and how Scripture can not only encourage us, but also build our faith.

We want to share some of these encouraging Bible verses about faith with you.

MATTHEW

As people listen to the book of Matthew, whether in a rural village via Proclaimers or city apartment through the Bible.is app, eager souls are reminded just how powerful faith can be. Here are a few encouraging verses from Matthew.

Matthew 9:2

And behold, some people brought to him a paralytic, lying on a bed. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Take heart, my son; your sins are forgiven.”

Matthew 15:28

Matthew 17:20-21

He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”

Matthew 21:21

And Jesus answered them, “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen.

JOHN

John 3:16 is without a doubt the most well-known verse of all time… and for good reason. This verse encapsulates the Gospel and the basis for the Christian faith. Many who engage in Audio Bible listening programs have expressed to us their joy of hearing these life-giving words for the first time.

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

John 3:36

Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.

John 6:35

Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.”

John 7:38

“Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’”

John 11:25-26

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

John 11:40

Jesus said to her, “Did I not tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?”

ROMANS

These verses in Romans explain the power of having faith and result of placing our faith in Jesus. As Romans 10:9 explains, we will be saved if we believe that Jesus is Lord. People who have waited to hear the Gospel for years are now receiving these words of life in a language and format that speaks to their hearts.

Romans 10:9-10

Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

Romans 10:17

So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

Romans 15:13

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

EPHESIANS

These verses in Ephesians incorporate the importance of grace and love while also explaining that if we have faith, the love of Christ (which is greater than we can comprehend) will save us. It’s through verses like these that countless individuals all over the world, hearing an Audio Bible that someone like you provided, have discovered God’s precious promises.

Ephesians 2:8-9

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Ephesians 3:17-19

So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Ephesians 6:16

In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one…

JAMES

Life brings trials, but the good news is that when we face trials and our faith is tested, we are strengthened. The Word offers the immeasurable power to face trials with new perspectives. His audible Word, ringing through the world, offers hope!

James 1:2-6

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.

1 JOHN

It’s as simple as this: if we maintain our faith, we overcome the world as Jesus overcame the world. We have victory in Jesus!

1 John 5:4-5

For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
