Faith Comes By Hearing Makes Historical Progress

Audio Bible Ministry Year End Review

2009 was a blessed and busy year at Faith Comes By Hearing, the world's foremost Audio Bible ministry.

This international Bible organization recorded new Audio Bibles, launched new outreaches into more nations and designed and deployed new Audio Bible technologies.

Faith Comes By Hearing established more than 85,000 Bible listening groups in villages, slums, schools, shanty towns, hospitals, orphanages, prison systems, house churches and mega-churches. Estimates suggest more than 8.5 million people heard the Word of God this year alone!

"There's a tremendous hunger for God's Word," said Morgan Jackson, the ministry's international director. "In fact, we currently have requests from our partners for more than 200,000 Audio Bibles."

Faith Comes By Hearing's mission is to record and use heart-language Audio Bibles to bring His church together and make disciples from every nation, tribe, language, and people.

New Audio Bibles

More than 130 Audio Bible recordings were started in 2009. Nearly 50 Bible recording teams, made up of national workers, were dispersed to many dark and dangerous lands, faced hardship after hardship, some even endured serious persecution to record God's Word in a format their fellow tribesman can use.

A U.S. based Bible recording team also recorded two English Audio Drama New Testaments—the New American Bible and the English Standard Version.

New Audio Bible Outreach

New Bible listening programs, such as Military BibleStick and Every Church Every Village, both started in 2008, grew tremendously this year.

More than 34,000 Military BibleSticks made their way to deployed and stateside service members through military chaplains serving around the world. With the recent commitment of 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan, more deployed service members and their families will need the comfort, support and hope found only in the Word of God.

Internationally, the Every Church Every Village project came alongside church mission teams to proclaim God's Word in more than 110 countries through the Proclaimer®, a self-powered audio player. The Proclaimer's embedded microchip is pre-loaded with the Audio Drama New Testament in the heart languages of people around the world.

New Audio Bible Technology

In May, the ministry released the Audio Bible Ambassador®, an online innovative Bible distribution project that inspires users to download Audio Bibles in other languages to reach others through the Internet. Thousands of individuals are now using their computers to spread God's Word.

Another online development, a streaming Audio Bible player, was well-received around the world. The streaming Audio Bible player initiative launched in mid-2009, and more than 500,000 people have listened to the Bible in their own language.

U.S. Audio Bible Outreach

At home, almost 14,000 U.S. churches and parishes have participated in the North American Audio Bible campaign, called Faith Comes By Hearing has provided more than 4 million Audio Bibles to help people engage in God's Word.

Research shows nearly 70 percent of believers have not read the New Testament and many do not read their Bible on a regular basis.

In Houston, the ministry worked with hundreds of churches and parishes in a city-wide campaign called You've Got The Time Houston. Nearly half a million people listened to the Bible in their homes, cars, at work or privately.

2010 is anticipated to be even a bigger year of "bringing in the harvest." Faith Comes By Hearing continues to develop new partnerships and new technologies to bring the Word of God to the world's poor and illiterate people.
