The Deg Language of Ghana, Africa

Bible translators worked long difficult years to translate the New Testament into the Deg language of Ghana. Once completed, 2,300 New Testaments were printed, but only a handful of them were ever purchased.  When the Faith Comes By Hearing team came to record the Deg New Testament, they discovered that only four people could read the words of the Deg language well.

Today, almost every Deg church and village has a Faith Comes By Hearing Bible listening time. There are now 85 different listening groups.  Through the listening programs, literacy classes have been started. The Deg people read along in their Bibles while they are listening to the Word of God.  The results have been amazing!  Now, many can read very well!

The spiritual fruit from listening to the Bible is good and is a blessing to others.  Many have become Christians, and even those who are not Christian have changed their actions after listening to Scripture.

One man told how he would hide behind the church to listen to the Bible and the discussion that took place afterwards.  The fourth time he listened, he was so deeply touched that he came into the church and accepted Jesus!  And this has become a common thing.  We thank the Lord for this wonderful work that is happening because of His words!
