Reaching Azerbaijan

“For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea” (Hab 2:14). God’s Word in audio is reaching across the globe and into Azerbaijan, touching those who desire Him, speaking to those who seek Him. Despite the fact that sharing the Gospel must be done carefully in this sensitive area, five faithful colporteurs and a large network of volunteers are working throughout Azerbaijan. Even though our colporteurs have been attacked and threatened, they have persevered. Their sacrifice is not in vain, as people are coming to know Christ and receiving His life and hope. 381 listening groups have now been established, and people who have not been able to hear God’s Word before are now hearing about His love.
Here is just one of the many incredible testimonies we have received from colporteurs: “As I was traveling, in the bus there was a mother with a daughter. I remembered that this girl was ill and I evangelized her in the past. She told me: ‘I had an eye problem and couldn’t see. Jesus helped me—now I’m an artist. I became a member of the Azerbaijan Artist Union. The Audio Bible you gave me helped me; I listened to it day and night. I prayed to Jesus, because he healed blind people. Once I prayed to Jesus all night and in the morning I was surprised, because I can see very well now. I looked in the mirror, and started to cry and rejoice. My parents organized a big party and invited many relatives, friends, and neighbors. Everybody was surprised, because doctors and medicines couldn’t help me. I told everyone that Jesus made this miracle.’”
Another colporteur shares, “I met Imran on the street. After I met him several times and we became friends, he invited me to his home. He gave me tea and we started to talk about Christianity. He was very interested in learning about Christ—he was lonely, his wife had died and his children were living in the city. I gave him an Audio Bible and he thanked me much for it.” This colporteur then visited Imran a month and a half later, and shares, “Imran was very glad to see me, he was listening regularly with some of his neighbors and friends.” And six months later, “I met him on a street with his friends. He told me that he got better after listening. He wanted to meet me again and continue to talk about all we have talked about.”
Open Doors in Prison
Workers had an unprecedented open door to visit a women’s prison where they gave out 20 MP3 Audio Bible discs. They share, “The 250 prisoners and we had a very anointed time together. Even prisoners and prison workers said they felt something very special that they had not ever felt before. One of the women who had killed her husband now had the countenance of a person who was cleansed; 15 prisoners were given amnesty, and one of the prisoners expressed,
