Faith Comes By Hearing News
Bible.is Now Features Scripture in Over 600 Languages!
Continues Great Commission work with expanded global access
In one month, Faith Comes By Hearing has more than doubled the languages offered on their free Bible app, Bible.is. Just last month, the world's largest Audio Bible ministry announced that the app contained 218 languages. That number now stands at an astonishing 618 languages, which are accessible on the app and website - many with text and audio. The ministry is working toward having both text and audio available for every language on the app.
Bible.is was introduced as an iPhone app just less than a year ago. Today it is also available for iPad and mobile Android devices, as well as on the web at Bible.is. Originally only functional in English, the app can now be downloaded for navigation in seven additional languages, including Spanish, Chinese and Arabic.
Military BibleStick Receives Support from Varied Sources all Across America
Rodeos, concerts, rummage sales and kids in vacation Bible school all raise funds for the troops
Since Faith Comes By Hearing began their Military BibleStick project in 2008, the world's largest Audio Bible ministry has provided more than 140,000 digital Audio New Testaments (BibleSticks) to over 800 chaplains serving America's active duty military. The project has been entirely free of charge to chaplains and troops, largely as a result of generous gifts from partnering churches, individual donors and Christian radio listeners responding to on-air campaigns.
As the project has grown, several groups have taken unique approaches to raising funds in support of our brave men and women in uniform, with many personal hours spent in planning and preparation.

Pocket-sized, digital audio device serves this generation of soldiers well
"The continued requests from chaplains has been totally amazing," states Jon Wilke, spokesman for the project. "We really haven't done a lot of advertising; yet through word of mouth - from chaplain to chaplain - this (project) has just spread like wildfire."
Wilke, a veteran who served in both the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Army, reports a backorder for the BibleSticks that has averaged over 10,000 during the last year, with a high of 21,000 in October 2010.
Bible.is Emerging as Partner in Fulfilling Great Commission
Bible.is now functions in Chinese, Russian, Dutch, Italian & Portuguese
Faith Comes By Hearing (FCBH), the world's largest Audio Bible ministry, is again announcing an update to Bible.is - their free Audio Bible app released in July 2010. Available for iPhone, iPad and Android mobile devices, the app has been downloaded over 2 million times in less than 10 months. Today, the ministry is spotlighting five new languages in which the app will now operate. Already functional in English, Spanish and Arabic, Bible.is now works in Chinese, Russian, Dutch, Italian and Portuguese.
The current additions are the next step toward ‘localizing' the app into the 20 most widely spoken languages on the planet. Regardless of the language used to navigate the app, everyone will have access to the entire collection of Scripture - which currently stands at over 300 versions across more than 210 languages.
Bible.is App Expands Global Gospel Outreach
Smartphone users can now navigate Audio Bible app in Arabic
Bible.is, the popular Bible app from the Audio Bible ministry Faith Comes By Hearing, is now available for use in Arabic. Spoken by more than 221 million people throughout the world, Arabic now joins Spanish and English as the major trade languages available for users to navigate the app. This is the ministry's latest step toward making the Bible easier to access for people throughout the world, and doing so in the listener's own language. Further releases are under development, ultimately including the top 20 most spoken languages in the world.
The localization of the app was very much a collaborative process. Along with a strong partnership with the Bible Society of Egypt, funding was provided by the 2010 Ministry Award, presented by Counsel & Capital.
Since their Digital Bible Project started last year, Arabic has consistently been in the top 5 languages accessed across the multiple platforms offered by Faith Comes By Hearing (FCBH). In addition to the Bible.is app, the ministry's Audio Bibles can be accessed via podcast on iTunes, as well as streaming and download directly from their website - all free of charge.
