Testimony From the Bhojpuri of India

An accident had left Anil paralyzed and unable to walk. Anil was discouraged and had thoughts of suicide.

One day, his relatives brought a surprise. It was an Audio New Testament. They explained that as he listened he would hear God’s words. While listening, he heard a story that caught his attention.  He asked his brother to play that portion again.  In was John, chapter five Jesus heals a man who had been and invalid for 38 years. Jesus spoke and the man was cured. The man picked up his mat and walked.

At first, Anil could hardly believe what he was hearing. Could such a thing be possible? He started to call out to this Jesus until he fell asleep. When he awoke, he called to his brother and told him this:

“While I was sleeping, Jesus, he spoke to me!  He said, ‘I will make you well.’ He said that I would talk about it and others would listen and know my words were true.

Anil then stood up and showed his brother!  He could walk!

Later, Anil went to see the doctor. The doctor was stunned to see him walking.  Anil told the doctor that he had been healed by Jesus.

Through his testimony, many have accepted Christ. All of Anil’s family have been baptized.  Truly, faith comes by hearing!
