Equal Access to the Word of God
Faith Comes By Hearing is dedicated to reaching poor and illiterate people worldwide with the Word of God in audio, discipling them in their mother tongue. Our commitment is to record Audio Scriptures and to start Audio Bible listening programs for the world’s oral majority. Our passion is to offer all people equal access to the Word of God so that they can experience the hope and salvation of Jesus Christ.
Evangelism
When Audio Bible listening groups are formed, unchurched people are often attracted to the groups as they hear the Scriptures dramatized in their own language. The pure Word of God pulls them into the listening and discussion sessions where they become disciples of our Lord. The new disciples reach out to neighboring villages and start new listening groups, leading to new churches being planted. The FCBH listening program has proven to be a tremendous evangelistic tool.
Discipleship
New converts are discipled by listening to the Audio Bible repeatedly. It is not uncommon for a person to listen through the entire New Testament numerous times over the course of a year. Because these people are from oral cultures, they will memorize large portions of Scripture. Many testify to becoming bold witnesses and committed workers in their local churches and develop into outreach leaders.
Transformation
Individuals, churches, and communities report dramatic moral transformations as a result of the Faith Comes By Hearing listening program. The Word of God has a profound and positive effect in every area of their lives.
Reaching Nations In Their Language
In Matthew 28:19, Jesus outlines what we all know as the Great Commission: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. ” In this passage, the word “nation” is translated from the Greek word ethnos, which means “of the same manner, language, habit, and tribe,” a “kind of people,” or an ethnic group. So, when we talk about reaching the nations, we mean every language group in the world – ethnos.
Bible translation work began hundreds of years ago. Through the sacrificial work of the Bible Societies, Wycliffe Bible Translators, and other translation groups, more people have access to the written Word of God than at any other time in history.
Tragically, the effectiveness of this tremendous work has been limited because more than 50% of the world’s population is illiterate. They cannot read the Word of God, even when it is translated in their own language. The answer to this obstacle is provided from the Scripture: “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God” (Romans 10:17). That’s why Faith Comes By Hearing provides Audio Bibles to poor and illiterate people around the world.
