God's Word in Audio - Audio Bible Testimonies
Faith Comes By Hearing associates gather information and testimonies about what God is doing in and through Audio Bible listening programs around the world. Together with Wycliffe wonderful progress is being made for God's kingdom in Ecuador.
The Useful New Faith
In the central highlands of Ecuador, an enthusiastic pastor uses Faith Comes By Hearing in a unique way. He knows that the people are somewhat bilingual, but also knows that there are no bilingual hearts. He plays a Scripture passage in Spanish and then again in Chimborazo Quichua. Although they've only started the program recently, the effects of the Word have not waited.
There is a couple in this church who have a beautiful story of their new faith—a faith that proved useful in saving the life of their nephew. The husband and wife support the pastor in his ministry work; however, they needed to listen to the Word more so that a new faith would emerge in them so they could bless others.
The couple's story of their new faith began when one of their nephews accidentally poisoned himself and had to be urgently transported to the hospital. His condition was very delicate and the doctors didn't give much hope to the family members, assured he would die. But, as always, God alone has the final word on matters of life and death.
The couple was determined to pray for their nephew's life according to God's will. They said that their prayers were not like before. They felt something different when they put their nephew's life in God's hands—and a miracle happened! Their nephew suddenly began to improve. The doctors could not explain it, but the young man was healed and was able to walk out of the hospital on his own and start his life over.
"This was God's answer to the prayers we laid before Him with a new faith that we didn't have before and that, thanks to hearing his Word through Faith Comes By Hearing, was a faith useful for saving our nephew."
A Whole New Story
Milton, a faithful worker distributing the Proclaimer, also spends hours listening to it himself. Although he learned to read about four or five years ago, he still struggles to understand what he is reading. But, the Proclaimer has brought the New Testament to life for him.
One day, Milton and two little non-Christian Awa boys were looking at a picture book of New Testament stories. As the boys flipped thru the pictures of Jesus' life and miracles, and other stories such as Paul's adventures on his missionary journeys, Milton commented about each one saying,
Awa Project, a Partnership with Wycliffe
The Awa people of Colombia and Ecuador are only about 1,600 in number — and although some of them have a rough understanding of the Spanish language, most speak and intrinsically understand only their native Awa tongue. Thank God for the Audio Drama New Testament, which has just been introduced in Ecuador. When the first two colporteurs, who would carry the Word to their people, found out there were 100 Proclaimers available, they were thrilled — but also noted, they could use about 300! The Awa do not live in communities, but in small family units miles from one another. There is no church among them; but in this family setting, home listening groups will be established.
